Phoenix Challenge: DAY 1

I am part of a writing accelerator and this week we have been given the task to write our thoughts on a social media platform for the next seven days. This is to help us feel more comfortable asserting ourselves as writers online and in essence grow our personal brand. The prompt we have been given for today is to write about a time when I gave myself permission.

I think this task in itself is me giving myself permission to put myself out there. As a typical introvert, limiting access to myself is probably of the utmost importance to me because of my highly sensitive nature. But wanting to build a brand and essentially make money, means I can’t currently afford that total anonymity. And history has taught and told us time and time again of the romanticised poor artist. Being poor is not Romantic. Hence why I am trying to put myself out there. But it’s hard. Being under the scrutiny of people who think you’re talentless or, equally painful, not having the desired attention on your work.

Either way, I’m excited to submit myself to serendipity and see where my words take me.

Day 1 done.
